Web sites!

Here are a couple of sites that i found interesting.

This site is really fun. It teaches you about the water cycle. What I really like about it, is that it shows you different ways in which the water cycle works. It also shows you different ways in which you can affect the cycle and how the cycle affects you. I feel this site is a Deep learning web site. It allows the student to really learn about their the Water Cycle, and really see how it works. It takes the student on a little journey, and really allows the student to fully comprehend what they are reading and doing; therefore, the student is transffering the knowledge into their long term memory rather than short term. One thing that you could say would be a negative aspect of the web site, is that it is geared toward younger students with the cartoon like pictures, but younger students might not be able to do all of the step by step proccesses. The younger students would have to be doing it with the teacher, and the entire class would have to agree on where they wanted their water to go, rather than the individual student taking their own journey where ever they want it to go, and in their own order. It doesn't allow the student to take the path that most interests them.

I feel this site leads the students down a more textbook type of learning. It does not fully let the students interact with the model, and it doesn't really let the student know where to start. The site looks as if it came straight out of a text book. It does not pop out to you, and it does not catch your eye. It is shallow learning. It does not allow the student to trasnfer the knowledge into their long term memory. It mainly will allow the students to reproduce the knowledge in a test, or for a report. It does not fully take the student on a journey in where they can fully understand what the process is.
